The de-escalation continues, Catalonia enters phase 0.5 and phase 1

Spain is continuing to gradually progress through the phases of the deescalation.

Seventy percent of the Spanish population is now in phase 1, while Barcelona, the Community of Madrid and part of Castilla y León are still in phase 0, albeit with special measures.

This past midnight, Catalonia entered phase 0.5 and phase 1.

 

What regions in Catalonia are in phase 0.5 and which are in phase 1??

Regions in PHASE 0.5:

  • City of Barcelona
  • Northern metropolitan region (including Baix Montseny).
  • Southern metropolitan region (except Alt Penedès and Garraf).

Regions in PHASE 1:

  • Girona
  • Lleida
  • Central Catalonia
  • Camp de Tarragona
  • Terres de l’Ebre
  • Alt Penedès
  • Garraf

 

What activities are allowed in each phase?

PHASE 0.5:

The following are allowed:

  • Businesses and services:
    • Appointments are not required.
    • Maximum capacity is 30%.
  • Libraries:
    • Book check-outs and returns.
  • Museums:
    • Can open with 1/3 capacity.
  • Places of worship:
    • 1/3 capacity, physical distance and no contact.

The following are not allowed:

  • General mobility outside the municipality (or within the healthcare region).
  • Groups of people.
  • Opening of terraces.
  • Opening of hotels.
  • Active and nature tourism.
  • Opening of cultural venues.

 

PHASE 1 AND PHASE 0.5:

The following are allowed:

  • Opening of businesses measuring more than 400m² if the excess area is cordoned off and at most 400m² is used.
  • Sales, as long as there is no crowding.
  • Professional or federated sports outside the municipality but within the healthcare region.
  • Hunting and fishing.

Pedro Sánchez will request the last extension of the state of alarm until July to prepare for the completion of the de-escalation. Strictly following health criteria, if there are no further outbreaks and the epidemic evolves positively, the government expects to go back to “normal” life in the beginning of summer.
