The Madrid International Real Estate Exhibition (SIMA), the most important real estate fair in Spain, had to be canceled this year due to Covid-19. However, SimaPro, an event for professionals in the sector held in parallel to the fair, was reinvented and held from November 11 through 26 in a hybrid format.

This year, SimaPro combined in-person and virtual meetings using a streaming platform. With the slogan Leading Change Together, the event featured roughly one hundred speakers in 25 sessions broken down into three themed blocks:

• Development and Housing
• Investment
• Innovation and Future

Over two weeks of conferences and panel discussions, participants analyzed the current state of the sector, marked by the Covid-19 crisis, and debated future trends: build-to-rent, digitalization of the sector, and consolidating the sharing economy in the office and residential markets (co-working and co-living).

Organizers and stakeholders in the real estate sector hope next year's event can be held as usual. The dates set aside are from May 20 through 23, 2021.
