This, according to data from the INE, was the sixth consecutive month of growth, although it was lower than that posted in October (18%) and September (29.8%).
The autonomous communities with the most new mortgages for homes in November were Andalusia (3,183), Madrid (2,565) and Catalonia (2,264). The communities with the largest year-on-year growth in this type of loans were La Rioja, up 106.3%; followed by Extremadura, 35.6%, and the Basque Country, 27.6%.
The total number of mortgages, both for rural and urban properties, was up 5.6% year on year but down 11.2% from the previous month, with 24,479 properties compared to the 27,554 posted in October. Of those mortgages, 23,011 were for urban properties, up 5.8% from the same month in 2013 and down 11.3% from the previous month.
