Mobile World Congress (MWC) opened its doors in Barcelona to over 60,000 visitors, even better than organizers had expected in a return to pre-pandemic normality. The 17th year of this technology fair was held from February 28 to March 1, occupying seven of the eight pavilions at the Fira Barcelona Gran Vía fairgrounds in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
More than 1,500 companies took part in the event, including mobile phone manufacturers, telecoms and operators and other technology firms. These included big brands like Google, Microsoft, Ericsson and Samsung.
This year at MWC we saw the latest advances in artificial intelligence, laptops, smartwatches, smartphones, wireless headphones and virtual reality glasses, which also got lots of attention.
Technology evolving towards the metaverse
The metaverse is a hot topic right now and was also one of the focuses of the MWC. It is worth highlighting that this latest edition of the congress featured a session called “Tech Behind the Metaverse” with Blaise Thomas, a startup advocate and software engineer who focuses on augmented reality.
This conference brought together experts on several subjects to share their different points of view on this near future that will change our reality and the way we consume and sell products. New ways of staying connected and socializing through virtual reality and augmented reality.
The return of Barcelona’s great technology fair was a resounding success, with live presentations and the chance to learn about new devices and technological innovations first hand.
