Next summer, Barcelona’s Eixample will feature a new four-star hotel with an energy certificate (A).
The Alting real estate group has already finished construction on its building at 271 Aragó street, at the corner of Passeig de Gràcia, in which it has invested a total of six million euros. This figure is added to the 17.25 million that the building cost.
Alting has transformed the former Barcelona campus of the University of Chicago Business School into a hotel with 81 guestrooms, and has already entrusted it to the hotel chain Room Mate, property of Kike Sarasola.
The building is nine stories tall, with total area of 4,000 square meters. In addition to the 81 guestrooms, the future establishment will feature a restaurant on the ground floor, and the contract for operation has been awarded to the restaurant group En Compañía de Lobos, created by Tomas Tarruella, co-founder of Grupo Tragaluz. This company has restaurants in Barcelona (Gallito, Palmito, Ninot, Cuina, Green Spot), Madrid (Ana la Santa, Bosco de lobos) and Mexico City (Cuines).
The hotel will feature a rooftop terrace with a view of Passeig de Gràcia, Casa Batlló and Casa Ametller. With the renovation and change of use, the building has increased in value by 50%. The hotel has obtained the maximum energy classification (A) due to its sustainability plan.
