{"id":2201,"date":"2020-03-31T10:00:45","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T08:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alting.com\/renta-2019-income-tax\/"},"modified":"2026-01-23T14:52:46","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T13:52:46","slug":"renta-2019-income-tax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alting.com\/en\/renta-2019-income-tax\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomorrow the 2019 Income Tax campaign begins, this year at an exceptional time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barcelona, March 31 2020.- <strong>Tomorrow, April 1, begins the period when Spaniards can file their 2019 Income Tax returns<\/strong>, in the midst of the economic, social and healthcare crisis caused by COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agenciatributaria.es\/AEAT.internet\/en_gb\/Inicio\/La_Agencia_Tributaria\/Campanas\/_Campanas_\/_comp_Renta\/_calendario__Calendario_de_la_campana_Renta\/_calendario__Calendario_de_la_campana_Renta.shtml\">Spanish Tax Office<\/a> (AEAT) has kept the start of this year\u2019s campaign <strong>on April 1, and it will go until June 30<\/strong>, as published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on March 19.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gestha.es\/index.php?seccion=actualidad&amp;num=665\">Gestha<\/a> has calculated that 14.8 million taxpayers will receive 11.927 billion euros in refunds, and that 70% of the 21.24 million returns which will be filed will have overpaid and be getting a refund. According to the calendar set by the AEAT, <strong>the first refunds will be sent out after April 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>So how will the state of alarm affect tax returns?<\/h3>\n<p>The Treasury Department is keeping the Income Tax calendar so that taxpayers can receive their returns as soon as possible at a time like this, when many administrative matters cannot be processed because of the state of alarm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tax return filing periods and calendar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5649 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Calendario-Renta-2019-1.jpg\" alt=\"calendario-renta-2019\" width=\"1139\" height=\"619\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Income and Wealth Tax campaign will last until June 30 for returns without direct deposits in the first period and until June 25 for returns with direct deposits.<\/p>\n<h3>Ways of filing your 2019 Income Tax return:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Via the Income Tax website or its mobile app<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Starting on April 1, all taxpayers can <strong>access their draft tax return via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agenciatributaria.es\/AEAT.internet\/Renta.shtml\">Renta web<\/a><\/strong> (online Income Tax website). To do so, they have to identify themselves with their electronic certificate, PIN or reference number. This draft return can be changed, confirmed and filed if all the information is accurate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In person<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Right now, the<strong> Tax Agency offices<\/strong> are closed because of the state of alarm. As we wait to see how the situation develops, <strong>starting on May 5 you can phone in to make an appointment to file in person<\/strong>. You can start filing 2019 Income and Wealth Tax return in AEAT offices on May 13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe\u2019ll call you\u201d campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWe\u2019ll call you\u201d campaign offers the option of <strong>filing your tax return by telephone<\/strong>.
